Wells Fargo cancels Vegas plans

I was watching the news here a little while ago and they were saying that Wells Fargo has canceled their planned vacation in Las Vegas.  It seems the top mortgage officers for Wells Fargo had been intended to participate in corporate junkets that were to take place at the Encore and Wynn hotels.  I imagine there is a lot of grumbling going on in the employee pool, since the vacations are apparently a tradition for Wells Fargo to show their employees how valued they are.

I dunno… as many branches as the bank has, how does giving 1,000 mortgage officers a 12 night vacation in Las Vegas’s two most expensive hotels show they value their employees? Wouldn’t it cost less to send a “Thank you!” Gift basket to 100,000 employees?  Wouldn’t that make more sense?  I mean, this Grand Ghirardelli Chocolate Gift Basket is only $35 at Amazon.com, which means that it would only cost them $3,500 to send one to each of those roughly 1,000 mortgage officers. Wouldn’t that make a heck of a lot more sense than treating them to 14 days at the most expensive hotels in Las Vegas?
