My Dad’s Story
I have been working the past couple of days to pull the things my dad had been writing off of his old computer so that he can get back to writing on it. The trouble is, I can’t convince the computer to save things to either a thumb drive or a disk, and it does not have a DSL connection so I can’t even connect it up to the Internet. ::sigh:: So, it has become a slow process of entering things manually into my laptop one letter at a time as I retype it all. I considered printing it out and scanning it in on the scanner, but can’t get the printer to work on that computer either. So, I’m just going to keep on working on transcribing things.
Once that is done, then I will be working with him to type in his story as he dictates it to me. It should be if nothing else a very fun endeavor for us to be undertaking. Exploring his lifetime from his family moving West to escape the dust bowl to his career as a soldier in the Army and all of his history with computers and most important to me – his life with my mom.
