WTF? Google.com redirecting to Google.es?
March 27th, 2008 — FreelancersOffice.comI’m not sure just what the heck is going on, or if I have somehow tweaked a setting in Firefox I should not have tweaked by downloading FoxClocks, but when I tried to do a search on Google just a minute ago it searched via the Spanish version of Google instead. WTF?
Okay, I can take a joke, I’ll just enter the url directly and go to Google.com. Nope, it immediately redirects me to Google Espana… hmm… Annoying. How about switching browsers? Nope, Internet Explorer does it too. It is a flaw in the matrix and it seems to be on Google’s end, not mine.
Or is it? Just as I was thinking that some dorky Cracker out there seems to have decided to entertain themselves with cracking into the Google I spy the “Google.com in English” link and decide, okay, see what that does…
Yeah, it worked. I’m guessing that somehow I got the matching “Go to Google.com in Espana” clicked during my last visit and did not notice it, so my cookies file decided I want to default over to the Spanish one every time. At least I sorted it out, now back to work on the website I was working on.
