Working on my websites

I have spent the day working on my new novel site and on Family Caregiver Info. I am nowhere near where I want to be for Family Caregiver Info, but at least I have it revised and started back up. I can modify it and make it into more of what I want it to look like later. My goal is to have it relaunched for National Family Caregiver Month in November.

As for the Heir to Magic site - I am starting to get it slowly pieced together. I also did some work on my Writing Office site and added in a page showcasing some writing progress meters that I have found.

Site taking on new look

The site is starting to take on a whole new look to it.  I have a lot of tweaking to do still, but so far I am liking how it is looking.  I want to find a template that can blend smoothly in with the way the site is starting to be lain out, so that the blog part does not look quite so out of place on the front page, for now I suppose it is more than good enough that I have sorted out the changes I want to start making here and got those going.

Do not adjust your monitor

The Freelancer’s Office is going to be looking a little weird for a little while, don’t worry, it’s normal.  I am tweaking the main page on the site and rather than mess with taking it offline and all that BS I am just going to let you all watch and snicker as I try things out and discard them and try to come up with something that I want to have this looking like here.  Feel free to comment on anything you like or dislike about what I am up to.  My basic goal is to have the main page looking more like a website’s main page and less like a blog’s main page, since this website is a lot more than just a blog, and I want my blog on the main page.  So…. I’m playing mad scientist and you all get to watch.  ::cackles insanely::

Blog World Expo - Las Vegas NV

Blog World ExpoIt is official, and everything is in place, I am going to Blog World Expo next month down in Las Vegas, NV.

I’m rather excited about getting the chance to go, since this will be the first business trip I have gone on.  LOL  One thing that got me was the prices on hotel and airfare.  I booked my trip using Orbitz, after extensive searching for which online company had the best deal on hotel and airfare for this, and it ended up when I searched a few days before and after the convention dates that I could get a better deal by staying a few extra days.  So I am actually arriving a couple of days before the convention and leaving a few days after it.  Insane, I know, but I’m guessing it was flights booked up (my flight out of Alaska I got the last seat on the plane) and airfare prices higher for weekend travel etc.  I know the hotel was three times more on the weekend than on a weekday.

But, the important thing is that I am gong. ::happy dance::

Dell Photo 926 All-In-One printer

I got a new Dell Photo 926 All-In-One printer. You can see it here in the below picture I took of my desktop as I was getting the printer set up. (That’s Eric Close in his role as Vin Tanner on the Magnificent Seven on my computer’s desktop screen.)

Setting up the printer was fast and easy, the only thing that tripped me up was when to hook it into the computer. That ended up to be nearly the last step in the process because the Dell Photo 926 can be used with or without a computer. I want to get one now for my mom so she can make photocopies of things, since she is not a technosavy person this would allow her to get photocopies of important paperwork without needing to have a working knowledge of computers and without having to go somewhere to get the thing copied.

As I was playing with the printer I made up a little sample sheet for print quality. I wrote a line of text, printed on draft. Put the page back in the printer and moved the text down a little, printed on normal. Then put paper back in, moved text down a little more, and printed on photo quality. It turned out really good. Good enough in fact that I snipped it down to just the size of the writing and glued it to my printer as a permanent record of how the print looks at each quality setting.

I really like this new printer, and would recommend the Dell Photo 926 All-In-One printer as a home office printer to anyone that is looking for a good all-in-one printer.
